Phonetic Spelling Can Be Fun!

So, I'm not too sure how many people have seen the A-Team movie on my flist here, but....

*SPOILER*








There's a certain scene in the movie where Face is trapped in some tires, you've probably seen it in the trailer and he's waiting for Hannibal to rescue him and he taunts the bad guy by telling him, he's forgetting something and he proceeds to shout out:

Alpha! Mike! Foxtrot!!

"Adios, Mother-Fu..." (this is where the van crashes into the fence and Hannibal and BA rescue Face)


And a few days ago in a fic, I saw, "Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot." "WTF"

This amused me greatly, so I thought...what else can I do with the phonetic alphabet and internet speak? :D

Lima Oscar Lima = LOL
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot = WTF
Alpha Foxtrot Kilo = AFK
Romeo Oscar Foxtrot Lima Mike Alpha Oscar = ROFLMAO

I don't know why, but I absolutely loved the Alpha Mike Foxtrot and spent half of a shift at work wondering if it was Hannibal or Face that came up with it (I'm inclined to think Face, but I can't remember why now)

"You get in, you get the intel on general and you get out." Hannibal gave his lieutenant a stern look. He'd been improvising more and more lately, and while that wasn't necessarily a bad thing, there was no way to get back up here in a hurry if things went south fast.

"No problem, boss," Face smiled easily, "He won't even know I was there."

Tilting his head down to light his cigar hid his look, "Your code word, if you do get in trouble?"

Face rolled his eyes, "Trouble as in 'I'll be five minutes late' or-"

"Trouble as in, he's got a noose around your neck and he's not just threatening to kill you anymore." Hannibal interrupted.

Face sobered slightly. He'd seen how the general had taken care of lesser problems and being dragged around the desert by his neck did not sound like the most pleasant way to spend an evening.

"Alpha mike foxtrot," he decided after a moment, "Adios, mother-"

"I get it," Hannibal waved him off the with cigar, "This tracer only works if you keep your clothes on, got it?"

Face couldn't suppress the eye-roll. Really, it had only been that once... "Piece of cake, Hannibal. See you at the air strip."

* * *

"Ah, hello there..."

Hannibal sat up a little straighter from where he sat in the corner of the bar keeping an eye on the general.

"My husband would not be happy to find a strange man here." Ah hell, kid, Hannibal sighed, mentally translating her words. The bug was pretty muffled after that, but he did get a murmured, "Everything's fine, Colonel."

Hannibal turned his attention to making sure the general didn't decide to slip off suddenly.

When Face didn't meet him at the air strip, Hannibal wasn't so amused. Plans inside of plans, he reminded himself, and looked for just the right police to bribe. Kid better hope he caught up in time.

And I loved that scene as well. To bad that BA didn't get to say Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot in the movie. That would have been hilarious.
