Is Twitter the same as Dreamwidth or something completely different?

I have no idea what Dreamwidth is, so I couldn't even begin to tell you if it's similar to twitter or completely different.

It's a new (in beta stage) journal, just like Live Journal. So if you don't know it, that tells me it's completely different from Twitter.
