Kevin squeaked as he was jostled in Mike's arm and then suddenly there was a soothing sound and fingers petting his head. He really couldn't understand Mike at the moment, what with his kitteness, but it's not like he meant to get turned into a kitten during Potions class.
He leaned into the touch, 'cause it was pretty awesome and Kevin thought he was kinda purring, but he didn't really care as long as Mike kept that up with his fingers.

Mike grumbled as he scratched Kevin's currently furry black head. Ever since he ran into the Hufflepuff, they seemed to keep bumping into one another.
Kevin had decided it was fate and they were meant to be friends. Mike wasn't sure what the kid saw in him. He was in Slytherin, already an automatic strike against him, grumpy (Bill's words, not his) and apparently his glare could stop a first year in it's tracks.
Not that it had stopped Kevin, at first. The more they got to know one another, the more Kevin decided Mike needed a friend.
Bill found it all adorable. Bill also walked around with an Ostrich beak for a week after that comment, but Mike decided Bill kinda-maybe had a point.
They'd been friends for three years now and they certainly got into some weird situations. Case point in being.
"Mrrr!" Kevin purred at him and batted at his fingers, claws in.
"Hey, stop that," Mike murmured and lightly tapped Kevin on the nose. "Not sure if you can understand me, but I'm getting you to the infirmary, Kev."
Kevin just gave him another cute look and headbutted Mike's fingers for more scritches.
Mike obliged and sighed at the same time.
When Kevin was human, he was going to give the thirteen year old a stern talking to about pushing classmates out of the way of exploding potions.
