I don't know much about what you do and do not write, so I am going to just ask about what I want to hear, and what I want to hear about is Alex and Ryland when they knew each other in high school.

Alex is looking forward to school just being done for the day as he puts his books away in his locker. Three more periods and then he go could jam with Ryland.

"Why are you looking so down, chum?" Ryland asked, appearing out of nowhere like a ghost. For a tall guy, Ryland could disappear and reappear like a ghost.

Jumping, Alex adjusted his glasses and glared at Ryland. "You know I don't like it when you do that."

Ryland just grinned smugly and tipped his slurpee drink at Alex. "But it's so much fun, Alex-kins."

Alex just glared at him, adjusting his backpack straps.

"C'mon my main man, I got an idea for that chord progression we were messing around with the other day," Ryland said, slinging a arm around his shoulders. "I think if we - "

Alex nodded at the appropriate intervals, new music floating through his head as he listened and they walked down the high school hallways together.
